McMillan offers the only three-semester pre-engineering curriculum in the metro area that is designed for middle school students. Project Lead the Way (PLTW) is an nationally-known pre-engineering program designed to help students become excited about engineering while being cognitively challenged. Students who like math, science, and problem solving will benefit from these courses.
 

Program Highlights
 

PLTW Honors Courses are four units that have been extended to create three enriching semester courses. Seventh graders may take Technology and Electrons. Eighth graders may take Design and Modeling, as well as, Automation and Robotics. 
 

Introduction to Architecture 
A semester course that teaches students basic knowledge of architecture design and 3-D computer modeling software

Technology and Living Labs

Utilize career exploration modules with engineering themes exclusive to McMillan. These modules are: CADD (Computer-Aided Drafting and Design), Creative Solutions, Digital Manufacturing, Digital Transportation, Electricity, Energy, Power and Mechanics, Engineering Bridges, Gravity, and Lights/Lasers.

Project Lead The Way

The McMillan engineering students have been working on original bottle designs. The following bottles were selected as the best designs. Richelle Jimerson designed a bottle in the shape of a butterfly and Brett Craig designed a bottle in the shape of the Empire State Building.
