Hello, from YOUR McMillan PTO!
We are a small (but mighty!) team looking to include ALL McMillan families to support our mission of supporting the school. Our former principal, Dr. Talbott, would always say, “Take care of your teachers, because the teachers take care of your kids.” There just isn’t a better reason to support the PTO!
If you are shy about getting involved, don’t worry. Get in touch with us and let us know how much time you have, your talents and interests, and we will find the perfect place for you. Or just come to a meeting and be more in-the-know about your child’s education.
In a nutshell, the purpose of the PTO is to support the teachers and staff at McMillan. There aren’t any funds from OPS -- zero, zip, zilch, nada -- for things like food during those long days of Parent Teacher Conferences.
The McMillan PTO pulls together and organizes small donations from many homes, so that together, we can have a BIG impact.
The previous PTO President, Michelle Kaczmarek, has ‘retired’ from her tenure at McMillan, now that her children have grown into high school students. So, our goals for this first year without her are to:
This year we are rebranding our Direct Giving fundraiser, and calling it “McMillan Matters.”
McMillan Matters is intended to inspire donations through consideration about what their children’s education means to them, and hopefully, it matters!
Our campaign will kick off on Back to School Night (August 12). Of course, we will accept monetary donations any time of year!
Currently, McMillan is home to 800 families. Our overall goal this year is to raise $5,000. That is an average of $6.25 per family. We know that every family’s situation is different, and not everyone can give. But that said, there is a lot of magic that happens within these walls, and the trick is donations.
Even if your donation is $1, it is $1 more than we had before. With ten of those $1 donations, we have a Student of the Month award! THAT, my fellow Monarchs, is what we can do when we come together. Be a part of it. Please donate as much as you can to support the teachers who spend their days with your child.
The PTO has opted for this style of direct donation fundraiser so that all of the money goes right to McMillan, rather than selling cookie dough or wrapping paper, where McMillan would get less than 50% of the profits.
If donating online is convenient for you, you may do so through the Omaha Public Schools Foundation. Through their generosity, they take no fees, so we get 100% of the donation.
Many, many thanks in advance.
Your donation matters, because your kids matter.
