Improvement Late Start Day – Feb. 24, 2026, One of Five in the 2025–26 School Year

On five mornings this school year, students will begin class two hours later than usual:

Omaha Virtual School families will get specific information about their student’s schedule changes directly from the school.

Staff will use the time for data-driven work to improve teaching and learning across Omaha Public Schools.

What Families Need to Know

Attendance: Attendance will be taken once school begins that day. Schedule conflicts will not count as an excused absence.
Before-School Programs: Students already enrolled may arrive at the usual time and will receive breakfast.
Breakfast/Lunch: Breakfast is only for before-school program students. Lunch will be served for all students.
Transportation: Most bus routes will run on their normal schedule, shifted later by two hours. If your student’s pick-up time is different, our Transportation team will contact you directly.

These improvement days give staff meaningful time to better support your child’s learning. Thank you for your partnership.
